Who wrote this letter?
The letter was drafted collaboratively by members of the Badman Review Action Group, an online network of home educators and supporters, formed in 2009 to discuss and oppose the proposals in Graham Badman’s Review of Elective Home Education. Anybody may join the group to participate in its work.
Who signed it?
The letter was signed by over 1000 people in the space of one week. Many of these were home educating parents, but there were also numerous home educated children and formerly home educated young people, teachers, social workers, and other supporters, including some from around the world.
Among the signatories were university professors and other academics working in education and related fields, members of both Houses of Parliament, well known authors, and members of all the national organisations of home educating families in England.
